ARCHIVES / ANCESTRAL HOUSE RECORD

House Luciani

Arts, history & intelligence

This is the ancestral record. In the modern era, the Luciani name identifies a crew within the Fachelli Family.

Identity & tradition

Luciani is the House of whisperers, artists, bards and history keepers. Its people write the books, sing the songs, preserve names and secrets, and tell the stories of all seven Houses across generations. Vespucci and Luciani are mutual partners who trade information as currency. Luciani brings histories, sources and discreet intelligence; Vespucci brings access, negotiation and knowledge gained at the table. Together they can broker deals, the terms of war or peace without permanent allegiance to either claimant. Their neutrality is a source of power, not an absence of interests.

The words passed down

“Let no name be lost.”

Where the saying comes from

Ravencleft’s route books, sheltered archives and oral traditions preserved travellers, households and conflicting accounts passing through the Veiled March.

Remember people on every side and keep the record faithful. A patron can pay for knowledge or a song, but cannot purchase a different past.

When it is heard

Before a chronicle is opened, at a remembrance, when crediting a storyteller, or when insisting that an enemy’s dead also be named.

After the Doom and through later wars, it belongs to survivors, artists and historians alike. It can be a quiet promise of care or an unsettling reminder that a powerful person’s actions will be remembered.

The name you carry · Arts, history & intelligence

Artists, bards, writers, content creators, historians, archivists, discreet administrators and intelligence keepers. Luciani records who people are, what happened and what the Houses must remember.

The duty forged in the Doom

Luciani proposes the merger after Cenerath erupts, preserving names, songs, books and secrets while asking rival Houses to survive together.

The inherited duty in the modern crew

Content creators, artists, storytellers, historians and background administrators. Impartial record keeping and discreet intelligence support the whole Family; intervention is exceptional and justified by the threat to it.

Preserves every House’s history, credits creators and sources, exchanges information as currency with neutral partner Vespucci, and mediates when the Family’s survival calls for intervention.

This historical specialty carries into the modern crew. Members can develop secondary skills; the Commission confirms crew placement and appoints actual ranks.

The homeland in Vardessa

The Veiled March · Ravencleft

Northern Luciani holds have cold, snowy winters and dangerous iced passes. Ravencleft sits below the highest crests; fog and cold rain give way to milder, longer growing seasons on the southern descent toward Vespucci. Garbonzo’s exposed northern basin remains colder. Narrow saddles, ravines and watch paths leading down from the northern heights to the central Avel riverlands.

Travellers, messages and oral traditions pass through the mountain routes. Luciani turns that position into archives, intelligence, literature, art and song. Scribes and bards preserve who people are and how the Houses changed. Their shared record is impartial; the House intervenes only when the Family truly needs its mediation.

The raven belongs to the cliffs and the watchful reputation of the House. The key represents locked records and control over who gains access.

Trade partners

Vespucci is the principal exchange point for food, paper and commissions. Information flows both ways between the neutral Luciani and Vespucci partners, sustaining their leverage in deals, war terms and peace. Both Fachelli and Marino pay for dispatches and information; Garbonzo supplies winter wool and fuel.

Music & oral tradition

Bards preserve family histories through song, while writers keep the companion chronicles. Quiet verses and coded refrains protect confidences. Luciani distinguishes artistic interpretation and attributed accounts from its impartial historical record.

The early allegiance

Impartial whisperers, artists & keepers of history

Modern history

Luciani proposes the first union after Cenerath’s eruption: the Ashen Compact brings the survivors beneath the Fachelli crest before they flee Vardessa. Later divisions culminate in the 1935–1940 Red–Blue Civil War between Fachelli and Vespucci, which nearly destroys Garbonzo and Bambino. Luciani brokers the 1940 peace that establishes the seven-seat Commission. The Houses arrive in Montaro in 2026. Shared origin, complementary duties and unfamiliar outside powers make cooperation necessary; unity does not create one bloodline or erase what one family did to another.

What survives the union

Old grievances travel in household stories, pauses and jokes whose humour can conceal resentment. A slight can reopen an old wound, but love, marriages, new alliances and shared challenges can also bind descendants their ancestors taught to distrust. Do not assume either inevitable betrayal or automatic reconciliation: each generation chooses what to carry forward.

Relationships

These relationships begin in Vardessa and carry different pressures into later eras. A House tradition does not fix every descendant’s allegiance. Specific marriages connect named people; sworn banners do not create kinship.

Values & reputation

Impartiality, discretion, faithful attribution and service to the shared memory of the Family. The raven observes; the key safeguards records and confidences. Luciani works chiefly in the background and rarely intervenes unless the wider Family truly needs it.

What the family passes down

Keep a truthful chronicle beside songs and artistic interpretations. Identify sources, credit creators, preserve differing accounts and distinguish an attributed viewpoint from the House’s impartial record.

The tension within the tradition

Information is currency in the partnership with Vespucci. Choosing what to exchange, withhold or disclose creates leverage and responsibility. A bargain can purchase access to knowledge; it must not turn the impartial chronicle into a faction’s preferred history. Rare direct intervention remains distinct from everyday exchange.

The House’s early role is established. The founding register fixes the first named households and two Marino–Bambino marriages. Unknown intervening ancestors, additional marriages, oath terms and battle accounts enter the chronology as the Commission and community develop them.

A question for the next generation

When does preserving the record require its keepers to step forward and protect the people whose history they hold?
