Identity & tradition

In the early eras, House Fachelli stood as the wealthier and more powerful of the two great families contesting the throne. Its principal rival was House Marino and the faction gathered beneath the Marino banner. Fachelli regarded its own blood and name as superior to every other House. It accepted service and loyalty without granting its allies equal standing.

Where the saying comes from

Crownspire’s crowned lion expresses Fachelli’s belief that sovereignty belongs to its dynasty, regardless of who presently wears a crown. Estate rolls, pedigrees and accumulated private wealth sustain that claim.

An office can be given to another ruler; Fachelli still regards its own blood as royal. The saying expresses dynastic pride and the arrogance that other Houses remember.

When it is heard

At a succession, before the family standard is raised, or when an elder insists that losing an office has not diminished the name.

After the Commission begins electing its officers, the words retain their force as a family belief. They do not override an election or confer rank on a player.

Family strategy, senior leadership, finances and the allocation of shared resources. This is Fachelli’s private treasury; Vespucci operates the main bank for all Houses.

The duty forged in the Doom

The surviving treasury pays for passage and provisioning. Fachelli accepts a united command built on skills it once treated as beneath its own dynasty.

Senior Family leadership, strategic planning and treasury oversight. A leader is accountable for making all seven specialties work together.

This historical specialty carries into the modern crew. Members can develop secondary skills; the Commission confirms crew placement and appoints actual ranks.

The homeland in Vardessa

The Crown Heights · Crownspire

Cool nights on the heights; sheltered orchard valleys and drier summers east of the rain-bearing ridges. A fortified limestone escarpment overlooks roads, productive valleys and mineral workings. The elevated seat controls approaches from the central crossings.

The strongest treasury and inherited control of roads support Fachelli’s superior position among the Houses. The ruling family interprets accumulated privilege as proof of its own worth. It accepts Garbonzo’s loyalty and supplies without granting the sworn House equal respect.

The crowned lion is a claim to sovereignty and dynastic supremacy, not a claim that lions inhabit the limestone heights.

Trade partners

Garbonzo is its most dependable supplier. Vespucci brokers its trade with Marino; Bambino sells cattle and horses, Luciani carries sealed correspondence, and Lombardo accepts paid work.

Music & oral tradition

Formal court strings, low ceremonial drums and sung pedigrees. Patronage praises Fachelli blood; an allied musician’s service does not imply equal standing.

Modern history

Luciani proposes the first union after Cenerath’s eruption: the Ashen Compact brings the survivors beneath the Fachelli crest before they flee Vardessa. Later divisions culminate in the 1935–1940 Red–Blue Civil War between Fachelli and Vespucci, which nearly destroys Garbonzo and Bambino. Luciani brokers the 1940 peace that establishes the seven-seat Commission. The Houses arrive in Montaro in 2026. Shared origin, complementary duties and unfamiliar outside powers make cooperation necessary; unity does not create one bloodline or erase what one family did to another.

What survives the union

Old grievances travel in household stories, pauses and jokes whose humour can conceal resentment. A slight can reopen an old wound, but love, marriages, new alliances and shared challenges can also bind descendants their ancestors taught to distrust. Do not assume either inevitable betrayal or automatic reconciliation: each generation chooses what to carry forward.

Relationships

These relationships begin in Vardessa and carry different pressures into later eras. A House tradition does not fix every descendant’s allegiance. Specific marriages connect named people; sworn banners do not create kinship.

Values & reputation

The House prizes its own dynasty, inherited power and the preservation of wealth. Its respect is reserved for the Fachelli family itself. Authority is something it expects others to acknowledge; loyalty from another House does not make that House an equal. Its private estates and treasury remain distinct from the shared main bank controlled by Vespucci.

What the family passes down

The crowned lion represents a claim to supremacy. Garbonzo banners were sworn to Fachelli from the beginning, but that oath never made the two Houses blood relations.

The tension within the tradition

Garbonzo gives enduring loyalty to a House that does not return equal respect. Fachelli strength depends in part on those it considers beneath it, while Marino challenges its claim to the throne. Fachelli and Marino approach rivalry strategically. Their strikes are calculated, ruthless and devastating; both dynasties have gone too far across their history. Neither House owns a simple moral claim. Read each conflict through its stakes, choices and human cost, rather than assigning innocence to a surname.

The House’s early role is established. The founding register fixes the first named households and two Marino–Bambino marriages. Unknown intervening ancestors, additional marriages, oath terms and battle accounts enter the chronology as the Commission and community develop them.
