One survival Family

Survival draws most remaining family branches together beneath one crest. Work groups become fewer, more focused and responsible to the whole Family.

THE CREST IN THIS ERA

One crest for those who remain

Most surviving branches blend into one Family. Work groups consolidate around keeping everyone alive.

A single durable crest replaces competing family marks. Seven subtle traces acknowledge the origin without dividing the survivors into seven sovereign identities.

Late apocalypse → recovery · future story direction

Fewer roles. Shared survival.

Provision

Food, medicine, stores and distribution.

Works

Shelter, power, salvage and repair.

Watch

Scouting, protection, communications and shared records.

Working role framework. Crew names, membership, managers and any later breakaway factions need chapter records; these lists do not establish completed events.

The family tree keeps the ancestry even when surnames, marriages and shared culture blend. A later character’s working crew need not match an ancestral specialty. Preserve the approved founding line; a crew transfer does not rewrite genealogy.

APOCALYPSE · LORE

The Collapse

The apocalypse drives further consolidation. By its end, most surviving family branches have blended into one Family beneath a shared crest, with concise work groups focused on collective survival. Genealogy and inherited traditions survive the loss of separate organizational identities.

The consolidation is established future story direction. Specific disasters, losses, dates and game adaptations remain open. This later apocalypse is separate from the ancestral Doom of Vardessa.

THE CODE IN THIS ERA

The survival code · proposed

These are roleplay principles for this setting. Current community standards, consent and host-game rules apply across every era. Additional chapter rules require Commission review.

Community standards ↗
  1. Account for scarce food, medicine and equipment; agree how needs are prioritised.
  2. Share watch, repair and care duties. Settlement leadership answers for the people relying on it.
  3. Agree character death, infection, rescue and loss rules before play. Preserve the record of both sacrifice and survival.

How this era plays

  • Provision: food, medicine, stores and distribution
  • Works: shelter, salvage, power and repair
  • Watch: protection, scouting, communications and records

New arrival → settlement specialist → settlement or expedition lead

What enters the record

Agree the cause, dates, technology and survivor branches before canon play. These games remain separate worlds unless a transition is explicitly approved.

Select the game, session group and loss rules; prepare one achievable survival chapter.

WHAT THE GENERATIONS KEEP

Tradition, without standing still.

The name is entrusted

Carry the family name through conduct, craft and obligations fulfilled. Prestige is earned over generations.

Hospitality and the table

Make room for guests, introduce newcomers properly and build relationships over shared time. Italian family culture informs the fiction without prescribing how real people must behave.

Discretion before display

Let quality, patience and a kept word speak. Old money is expressed through stewardship, restraint and care for what the next generation inherits.

Respect across generations

Learn the stories, preserve the songs and remember who made the present possible. Respect for elders leaves room for younger generations to question and change the code.

A living inheritance

Names, sayings and family lines endure; institutions, loyalties and customs evolve. No descendant is obliged to repeat an ancestor’s feud.
